No one wants to leave behind their best friend when vacationing, so why not go to a beach area that is dog friendly! \u00a0Below is a list of Delaware beaches that welcome the addition of our best friends \u2013 all that is asked is that your dogs are kept on a leash where required and you clean up after anything they have left behind.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Dewey Beach:<\/u><\/strong> Located north of the Delaware Seashore State Park, Dewey beach is one of the most popular getaway destinations for vacationers with dogs.\u00a0 Dogs are welcome on the beaches from 5:30pm-9:30am in the summer and any time from mid-September to mid-May.\u00a0 Dog-lovers will also appreciate events like the annual \u2018Greyhounds Reach the Beach\u2019 event each year in Dewey beach;\u00a0 however canine visitors have to be licensed\u2014licenses are available from Town Hall and at the iDewey Visitor Center and range from $5 to $35.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Bethany Beach:<\/u><\/strong> Bethany beach is a dog-friendly beach known for its relaxed atmosphere.\u00a0 Pets are welcomed between September 30 and May 15.\u00a0 Not only are dogs welcomed on the beaches, but many stores and the boardwalk also love seeing you and your pets.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Fenwick Island State Park<\/strong>:<\/u> Located south of Bethany Beach is Fenwick Island \u2013 another great beach option for dog lovers.\u00a0 Fenwick island state park caters to families and their pets all year round. Dogs can join in on the fun throughout the park and are allowed on the surf fishing beaches (but not the swimming beaches).<\/span><\/h4>\n

Lewes:<\/u><\/strong> Lewes is located near the middle of Delaware\u2019s coastline.\u00a0 The historic part of Lewes offers families with dogs both the dog-friendly beach as well as lots of shopping and dining. Visitors to Lewes from New Jersey can also take the Lewes\/Cape May ferry which allows pets that are well behaved on leashes.\u00a0 The beaches in Lewes welcome dogs during the hours of 6:30pm-8:00am.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Delaware Seashore State Park:<\/strong><\/u> The Delaware Seashore State Park is one of southern Delaware\u2019s most popular state parks. This 2,825 acre state park is bounded on the east by the Atlantic Ocean and on the west by Rehoboth Bay and the Indian River Bay. \u00a0While dogs are not allowed on the swimming and sunbathing beaches from May 1 to September 30, they are allowed (if leashed) on non-guarded and surf-fishing beaches.<\/span><\/h4>\n
