There isn’t a price tag for happiness. And we’ve all heard the adage, “Money doesn’t buy happiness.” That said, we all know that a beach house close to the ocean has a high price tag. But so worth it. I kick myself for not investing in my happiness much sooner. I bought a beach condo last April and I have to say it’s the best investment I made for ME. Of course, my friends and family also benefit, which makes me even happier to be able to give them a slice of heaven.
For all of you science minded people, there also is scientific data to explain why we are drawn to the ocean. You can learn more on this topic in Nichols book, Blue Mind. But for us who made the plunge, we don’t need scientific data to feel rejuvenated after a day relaxing by the ocean.
Working in the D.C., metro area, Dewey is an easy drive for quick weekend trips. Even better when you own the property and can come and go as you please. Particularly nice that Dewey is so dog-friendly. We also can walk (rather than drive in beach traffic) to restaurants and stores. Or hop on a trolley. Transportation couldn’t be easier.
Beaches, parks, shops, restaurants, friendly people…I could go on and on.
Last, have you noticed that everyone is happy when they are vacationing at the beach? It’s contagious and another reason for loving beach living.
